Business Description
We are a bicycle rental network service provider, bringing customers together with our preferred partners to give them access to bicycles and our vision is to help them find other riders in the cycle community with similar interests. Our service provides independent bicycle shops, community interest companies, charities and other organisations with a way to open up a rental income stream easily and quickly and one which they may not have considered before.
What was the scope of the project involved?
Phase 1 delivered minimum viable product (MVP) for our service and Phase 2 has significantly enhanced our offering by providing us with the ability to 'white label' our service so that partners can integrate it into their own web sites. A re-vamped booking engine allows partner administrators to book from the shop, and customers have access to a web-based app to search and reserve bicycles.
How did Dotsquares meet your requirements?
Dotsquares initially provided a capable team of a designer and developer for our Phase 1 requirements, which were easily met on time and to budget. We then scoped Phase 2 together and retained their outstanding developer talent for this phase, for which we found the developer to be innovative, highly skilled at both understanding and interpreting our requirements and in implementing them. Communication back to us was regular and minimal and daily online progress reports kept us up to date. Sometimes I wondered if our developer was a mind-reader, since they often anticipated our requests and implemented simple, elegant solutions to our problems.
What do you value about Dotsquares?
I very much value the fact that Dotsquares have a wide range of technical and graphical resources at their disposal, so we found having a designer involved in Phase 1 produced a responsive and welcoming interface. The deep understanding that the developer had of our requirements meant that this design ability was shared across the team and in Phase 2 many helpful design hints were produced and incorporated. When it came to moving from testing to production, we were able to engage with our developer and a Dotsquares network specialist to move the app to our AWS servers, and the network specialist recommended us Cloudflare as a solution to our network security requirements, which was an easy solution for us to implement. I would under all circumstances be unhesitant in recommending Dotsquares designers, developers and network specialists who I have been involved with on this project to any other customer. It has been a privilege to work with them on Phase 1 and 2 and I look forward to enjoying specification and development of Phase 3.
