Dotsquares is delighted to announce that we are now fully conversant with the new Beacon technology using Bluetooth to provide notifications when a mobile device is within close proximity to a beacon. Our Research Team (assisted by some of our Freshers from the Dotsquares Academy) has created a new case study outlining the technology behind Beacons and our familiarity with the set-up and implementation processes. Beacons are an important part of what is being referred to as the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things (IoT, sometimes Internet of Everything) is the network of physical objects or “things” embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and connectivity to enable objects to exchange data with the manufacturer, operator and/or other connected devices. Experts estimate that the IoT will consist of almost 50 billion objects by 2020. The application of these Beacons is very wide. It could be promoting offers at a physical store location, the device triggering the information sent as it comes within range, or for a conference or meeting, showing delegates the meeting schedule for a particular meeting room and providing additional content. Other applications could be to promote newspaper sales and offers as a user walks past a concession stand as is being trialled by one of our USA media clients. If you would like to understand more about this exciting technology and the benefits it could provide you and your organisation then please download our case study or contact us at admin@dotsquares.com to understand how beacons can be a part of your organisation.
