Dotsquares Hackathon 2025: Let’s Code & Win!

We are excited to share the highlights from the recently concluded Dotsquares Hackathon 2025, which took place on Saturday, February 22, 2025. This thrilling coding showdown brought together our talented developers, designers, and QA professionals for a day filled with creativity, collaboration, and competition.

A Day of Coding and Collaboration

The atmosphere at Dotsquares was electric as participants from various teams came together to showcase their skills and push their limits. Hackathons are an excellent opportunity to test problem-solving abilities, explore new technologies, and work collaboratively under time constraints. Our employees embraced this challenge wholeheartedly, demonstrating their passion for innovation and teamwork.

Throughout the day, participants worked in teams to develop practical applications that addressed real-world challenges. It was more than just a competition; it was a chance for our team members to gain hands-on experience, receive expert feedback, and be recognised for their technical excellence.

Team Dynamics and Project Categories

Each team, consisting of up to four members, was encouraged to have a balanced mix of frontend and backend developers, designers, and QA professionals. This diversity fostered collaboration and allowed teams to leverage each member's strengths.

Teams had four hours to complete their tasks, which fell into one of the following categories:

• Web Applications: Web-based solutions without a mobile component.

• Mobile Applications with Backend: Mobile apps that required backend integration.

At the start of the event, the challenge was revealed, and teams quickly got to work, efficiently developing their solutions within the given timeframe.

Evaluation and Recognition

Once the time was up, teams submitted their completed work through various methods, including deploying web applications on a server and sharing the build of mobile applications. An expert panel, consisting of specialists in Frontend, Backend, and Mobile Development, assessed each submission based on several criteria:

• User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX) quality
• Code structure, patterns, and maintainability
• Effective use of AI tools and proper documentation
• Functionality with minimal errors and bugs

During the review process, teams had the opportunity to discuss their approach, decision-making, and problem-solving techniques with the panel. This interaction not only highlighted the final product but also showcased the thought process and collaboration that went into its development.

The Hackathon was a resounding success, with participants demonstrating exceptional creativity and technical skills. Winning teams were recognised for their proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and effective teamwork.
